This is the sixth story in the bestselling, award-winning Caroline series. It is also Kathleen's fourteenth children's historical fiction book for American Girl, and her twenty-third published book.

This story is written for readers age 8 and up who enjoy historical fiction without sex, gore, or explicit violence.

Story Description

Caroline receives a letter asking her to come and help on Uncle Aaron's farm. Although she hates to leave her family, Caroline is pleased to see her cousin Lydia—and to meet Lydia's pretty cow and sweet baby calf!

Determined to help out in any way she can, Caroline keeps watch when a thief starts sneaking around the farm. Then she makes an unexpected discovery—and learns that some things are not as simple as they seem.

When Caroline returns home at last for an Independence Day celebration, she is treated to a wonderful surprise.

Includes an illustrated "Looking Back" essay about Changes for America in 1812.

This story is available as a 96-page printed book in softcover and hardcover, and for Adobe eBook-capable devices, including the Barnes & Noble Nook and the Kobo eReaders, and for the Amazon Kindle.

American Girl no longer sells this title in printed or electronic versions, but you do have three options.

1.  American Girl has combined books four, five, and six in this award-winning series—Caroline Takes A Chance, Caroline's Battle, and Changes For Caroline—into a single new book entitled Facing the Enemy: A Caroline Classic Volume II.

2. New and used copies of Changes For Caroline are available for purchase online from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Author's Note

Each book in this series can be read by itself, but I wanted Book 6 to satisfy readers who met Caroline in Book 1 and accompanied her on every adventure.

Changes For Caroline takes her away from Lake Ontario. That doesn’t mean she’s given up her dream of captaining her own ship one day. How does it all work out? You’ll have to read the story to find out!
