Meet bestselling writer Kathleen Ernst, author of 20 American Girl books. These include her award-winning stories about Caroline Abbott, the War of 1812 historical character she created for American Girl.

Kathleen will also be talking about her newest American Girl book, Gunpowder and Tea Cakes: My Journey With Felicity, and well as about the Josefina, Kirsten, Kit and Molly mysteries she has written.

Afterwards Kathleen will answer questions, pose for photos with the girls, and sign her books (copies of which will be available for purchase).

This hour-long program starts at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 8th. and is free and open to the public. Girls are invited to dress up and bring their dolls for tea.

Meet bestselling writer Kathleen Ernst, author of the award-winning Chloe Ellefson Historic Sites mysteries. This Wisconsin-based series is popular with adults and mature teens who enjoy traditional mysteries (i.e., without explicit sex, violence, or gore).

Kathleen's lively, richly-illustrated program will take readers 'behind the scenes' to reveal the people, places, and the past that inspired her to write the soon-to-be eight books in the series.

Kathleen will also talk about how her years at Old World Wisconsin influenced the character of museum curator (and reluctant sleuth) Chloe Ellefson, how her research into police work helped shape Chloe's love interest, officer Roelke McKenna, and how she researches and writes the Chloe mysteries.

Afterwards Kathleen will answer questions, give away door prizes, and sign her books (copies of which will be available for purchase).

It's a trip Ernst knows well -- as both a former curator at Old World Wisconsin and as author of A Settler's Year: Pioneer Life through the Seasons (Wisconsin Historical Society Press), her thirty-second book.

(Kathleen also writes the popular, award-winning Chloe Ellefson Historic Sites mystery series, which includes Heritage of Darkness, set in Decorah.)

Afterwards her presentation Kathleen will be answering audience questions, giving away door prizes, and signing copies of her books (copies of which will be available for purchase).

This hour-long program will start at 7:00 PM, Monday, April 24th, and is free and open to the public.

Photo of the Sharpsburg Maryland Public Library.Bestselling author Kathleen Ernst will be presenting her richly illustrated program about the experiences of civilians before, during and after the 1862 Civil War Battle of Antietam—"the bloodiest day in American History.

Kathleen's program is based on her non-fiction history book, Too Afraid to Cry: Maryland Civilians in the Antietam Campaign, which earned her a coveted invitation from the Antietam National Battlefield to speak at the battle's 150th anniversary ceremonies.

There is a reception at 6:30 PM. Kathleen's one-hour program begins at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 9th, and is free and open to the public.

Kathleen will be visiting the local elementary school earlier in the day.
